Code of Conduct

The Weekly Pick 'Em Pool values respect, integrity, sportsmanship, and fair play. All participants are expected to demonstrate ethical behavior based upon these values throughout the course of competition.

The Commissioner reserves the right to take action in response to any incident that does not align with these values, and consequences may include (but are not limited to) fines, suspension, and expulsion.

Section 1 — The Basics
  1. The Weekly Pick 'Em Pool is comprised of the Regular Season Competition, the NFL Playoffs Competition, and an optional King of the Hill (KOTH) Competition.
  2. The Commissioner (Patrick Haduck) manages each week's schedule, sets each game's point spread, collects the requisite fees from all players, distributes payments to winners, and is the final authority for the resolution of all disputes or grievances.
  3. The Participation Fees for each player are broken down as follows:
    Weeks 1-18 High Score ($5.00/week) $90.00
    Weeks 1-18 Bonus ($0.50/week) $9.00
    Season High Scores Competition $17.00
    Season Low Percentage Competition $4.00
    NFL Playoffs Competition $10.00
    Total $130.00
    KOTH Competition (optional) $10.00
    Total w/KOTH $140.00
Players who fail to pay their Participation Fees in full before kickoff of the first game of Week 1 will be dropped from the competition.
  4. Point spreads are set at least 24 hours before kickoff of the week's first game.
    1. Games with a whole number point spread receive an additional half point against the favored team.
    2. Games with no point spread are treated as Pick 'Em games. If a Pick 'Em game ends in a tie, all players receive a loss for that game.
    3. Spreads are monitored for significant movement from their initial settings.
      1. A spread will be adjusted if it moves by four (4) or more points from its origin and there remains at least 24 hours until the game's picks deadline.
      2. An email notification will be sent to all players when a spread changes after its initial posting.
      3. A pick made for a game prior to its spread adjustment will stand unless it is changed by the player.
  5. Players must submit their picks via the My Picks form unless an alternative method has been agreed to by the Commissioner.
  6. Under no circumstances will a pick be accepted after its deadline has expired.
Section 2 — Regular Season

The Regular Season Competition runs from Week 1 through Week 18.

  1. The week's High Score prize is awarded to those players with the most correct picks for the week.
  2. The week's Bonus prize is awarded to those players that submit at least 12 picks for the week and achieve an eligible score:
    Picks Eligible Scores
    16 0, 1, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16
    15 0, 1, 12, 13, 14, 15
    14 0, 1, 11, 12, 13, 14
    13 0, 1, 10, 11, 12, 13
    12 0, 1, 9, 10, 11, 12
If no players can claim the Bonus prize, the prize rolls over to the following week. Any money remaining in the week's Bonus prize at the conclusion of the regular season is rolled over to the Season High Scores prizes.
  3. Prizes are awarded at the conclusion of the regular season:
    1. The Season High Scores prizes are awarded to those players who accumulate the highest totals of correct picks, with prizes awarded for first, second, and third place.
    2. The Season Low Percentage prize is awarded to the player(s) with the lowest winning percentage. Note: to qualify for the Season Low Percentage prize, a player must submit a pick for every regular season game.
  4. In the event that a game is suspended, forfeited, canceled, or designated No Contest:
    1. If the game is suspended, all picks for the game will stand.
    2. If the game is forfeited, canceled, or designated No Contest, all picks for the game will be withdrawn.
Section 3 — NFL Playoffs

The NFL Playoffs Competition runs from Wild Card Weekend through the Super Bowl.

  1. Players accumulate points for each correct pick as follows:
    Round Points
    Wild Card Weekend 2
    Divisional Playoffs 3
    Conference Championships 6
    Super Bowl 12
  2. Prizes are awarded for first, second, and third place total points at the conclusion of the Super Bowl.
  3. Regular Season actions apply in the event that a playoff game is suspended, forfeited, canceled, or designated No Contest.
Section 4 — King of the Hill

King of the Hill (KOTH) is played during the regular season. Players participate until they are mathematically eliminated from the competition.

  1. Each player chooses one team each week to win its game outright.
  2. A player can select a given team as their KOTH pick only once per season.
  3. The sum of the point spreads for each player's KOTH winners is tracked over the course of the competition as the player's Aggregate Spread.
  4. At the conclusion of the competition, the player with the most wins is declared the winner. In the event of a tie, the player with the least negative Aggregate Spread amongst those tied is declared the winner. For example:
    A B C
    Week 1 W (-5.5) W (-2.5) W (-9.5)
    Week 2 W (-6.5) L W (-5.5)
    Week 3 W (-1.5) W (-3.5) W (-5.5)
    Week 4 W (-7.5) W (-6.5) W (+3.5)
    Wins 4 3 4
    Aggregate -21.0 -12.5 -17.0
Players A and C both finish with the most wins, but player C is declared the winner as a result of having the least negative Aggregate Spread.
  5. In the event that any KOTH picks are made for a game that is suspended, forfeited, canceled, or designated No Contest:
    1. If there are at least four (4) unlocked games available, players who selected either of the impacted teams will be permitted to reselect a KOTH team from those games.
    2. If, in the Commissioner's judgement, the event would have no adverse effect on the competition, all KOTH picks for the week will stand.
    3. If neither of the conditions specified above can be met, all KOTH picks for the week will be withdrawn.
